Mauritania Iron Ore Train
Mauritania's Iron Ore Train is a working railway, not a visitor attraction operating to a guaranteed tourism timetable. Sahara Nomads includes it only within flexible expedition routes supported by onward transport and local planning.
An expedition, not a timetable
Train timing and boarding details can vary. A responsible route keeps transfers, fallback arrangements and the wider itinerary flexible until the local team can confirm current operations.
Preparation also matters. The published journeys discuss clothing, eye and face protection, luggage, food, water and the physical realities of the chosen segment before confirmation.
Two ways to place the railway in Mauritania
Iron & Atlantic links the Adrar and Ben Amira with the train toward Nouadhibou, then continues to Cap Blanc and Banc d'Arguin. The Mauritania Grand Traverse reaches the railway after crossing the Tagant, Adrar and mining north before continuing toward the White Valley and Atlantic.
Both journeys treat the train as one chapter within a broader Mauritanian landscape rather than the entire purpose of the route.
